Letter from our President

Welcome to Northern Interstate Bank, N.A.

On April 1, 2017, the First National Bank of Norway, Michigan, founded in 1901 and the First National Bank of Crystal Falls, Michigan, founded in 1934, merged and became Northern Interstate Bank. While our name may be new, our legacy as two, tradition rich, community minded, financial institutions is certainly not new.

The history of our banks’ cooperative working relationship over the years has lead us to the eventual decision to become one, even stronger financial institution. With eight office locations and a network of fourteen ATM’s, our service area encompasses a great portion of the south central Upper Peninsula of Michigan and beyond.  Our Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from virtually all areas of our primary market area and office locations.  Our Directors have vested interest in bettering the communities we serve through local decision making on a timely basis.

The existing Management and Staff of our two banks were combined in order to maximize their strengths to provide the best service possible. We are extremely proud of this very dedicated and experienced group that truly care about their customers and communities.

You can see from other sections of this website that we offer virtually all of the services of larger financial institutions, with the distinct difference of knowing our customers. Our staff will help you find the product or service that best fits YOUR needs; not something you don’t need or want.  We have office locations spread throughout our primary market for the convenience of our customers and we strongly support all of the communities we serve.

We encourage you to check out the difference it makes in trusting your finances to a hometown, community bank. We are committed to carrying on this tradition of personal service at Northern Interstate Bank.  We look forward to your next visit with us!
